Conference Goal
The goal of the conference is to promote sustainable and high quality rural health initiatives throughout the region.

Conference Tracks
Special focus will be given to three tracks identified by the Statewide and local planning committees:

  1. Barriers and Borders in Rural Health Systems
  2. Stressors and Sudden Impacts on Rural Health Systems
  3. Investing in Your Community’s Rural Health Workforce
An in-depth look at how health systems in rural communities in the region are impacted and molded by the international border will be provided. In addition breaking down barriers and borders within and between health systems in rural Arizona through collaboration is of particular interest.

Conference Objectives
The conference will provide relevant and up to date information on ways to address rural health challenges throughout the State that will assist in promoting healthy communities in rural settings by:

  1. Creating a dynamic forum for examining public health policies and practices in rural communities.
  2. Increasing participants’ awareness of unique concerns, challenges and responses to promoting healthy communities in rural Arizona.
  3. Providing examples of model practices and sustainable approaches to addressing rural health concerns.
    Enhancing the local rural communities’/region’s capacity to identify and address impacts affecting the health of their communities.
  4. Supporting economic development of rural communities and strengthening partnerships within the health system.

Intended Audience
Conference attendees will include health professionals and others with interest or expertise in promoting healthy rural communities including health care providers, community health, public health, behavioral health, school health, and social service providers, administrators, community leaders and interested citizens, community partners, policy makers, students and researchers.
