Recruitment and Retention Resources
The Rural Health Office focuses on recruiting the healthcare providers that are most often sought by rural facilities—doctor of medicine (MD, DO), nurse practitioner (NP), registered nurse (RN), physician assistant (PA), certified nurse midwife (CNM), and dentist (DDS)—although any provider position could be recruited. Specialties most often include family practice, internal medicine, general surgery, psychiatry, and obstetrician/gynecology. Arizona State Programs
Multiple state and federally funded workforce programs are administered by Arizona Department of Health Services, Division of Public Health Services, Office of Health Systems Development (HSD). HSD was established in 1995 and is the Primary Care Office for the state of Arizona.

Federal Programs
The National Health Service Corps (NHSC) recruits primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, certified nurse-midwives, dentists, dental hygienists, and mental health professionals to provide care in federally designated Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs) in exchange for loan repayment assistance or scholarships.
The National Rural Recruitment and Retention Network (3R Net) is made up of state organizations such as State Offices of Rural Health, Area Health Education Centers, Cooperative Agreement Agencies, and State Primary Care Associations. Read more...
