What is the Arizona Rural Women's Health Initiative?
The Arizona Rural Women’s Health Initiative (AzRWHI) is a project of the Rural Health Office of The University of Arizona Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health in collaboration with the Rural/Frontier Women’s Health Coordinating Center of the Arizona Association of Community Health Centers and several other entities throughout Arizona.
Gaps Analysis and Action Planning
The AzRWHI helped to organize a major forum in Southern Arizona in April 2006 on the topic of sexual assualt and domestic violence against women. A second forum was held in Flagstafff for the Northern Arizona area in October 2006. During a gaps analysis and action planning session, participants in the forums worked to record comments and recommendations around these issues. The resulting reports are compelling reading for anyone working in rural health.
